Laser engraving stone will not leave a deep groove that you may have seen elsewhere, and often crudely painted. Depending on the type of stone, it will be very difficult to feel the depth of the engraving with your fingertip. The effect is created by the heat of the laser reacting with the surface of the material, leaving behind a natural engraving, with an amazing contrast making text very easy to read.

 

With slate, we prefer to work with Spanish black (with a riven edge), the more green-tinted Welsh Heather and Rustic Black (straight edged), which is actually grey (straight edged).
